A minor Bosnian and Herzegovnian co-production LES HÉROS NE MEURENT JAMAIS (HEROES DON’T DIE) by Aude Léa Rapin will be screened at Semaine de la Critique at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. This film is co-production between France, Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina. HEROES DON’T DIE is filmed in Sarajevo and Srebrenica in Summer 2018.
The actors in this film are Adèle Haenel, Jonathan Couzinié, Antonia Buresi, Hasija Borić, Vesna Stilinović, Muhamed Hadžović, Damir Kustura Slaven Vidak and Elma Juković. Film is produced by Sylvie Pialat and Benoît Quainon, and Bosnian co-producers are Amra Bakšić Čamo and Adis Äapo. The rest of film crew are DOP Paul Guilhaume, production designer Henriette Desjonqueres, make-up artist Lamija Hadžihasnović-Homarac, casting manager Timka Grin and production organizer Ensar Halilović.
Also, five short films produced as a result of Southeast European Factory (SEE Factory) will open Cannes Directors’ Fortnight 2019 (Quinzaine des réalisateurs). These films were made by athor duos, five from the region and other five from all around the world:
LOVE SUPREME, Dušan Kasalica (Montenegro) and Teodora Ana Mihai (Rumunia / Belgium)
RED STAIN, Urška Djukić (Slovenia) and Gabriel Tzafka (Greece / Danmark)
THE SIGN, Eleonora Veninova (Macedonia) and Yona Rozenkier (Israel / Switzerland)
MOMMY, Maša Šarović (Srbia) and Sharon Angelhart (Israel);
SPIT, Neven Samardžić (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Carolina Markowitz (Brasil).
Films are produced by Sarajevo Film Festival (Obala Art Center), with a support of regional film centers: Serbian Film Center, Macedonian Film Agency, Slovenian Film Centre, Macedonian Film Center and the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Sarajevo, in collaboration with Sarajevo Film Academy.
This years’ Cannes Film Festival will take place from 14th to 25th May and Bosnia and Herzegovina will also participate under the South East European Pavilion at Marche du Film.
