Una-Sana Canton, named after the rivers Una and Sana, is located in the northwest of the country and borders with enitity of Republic of Srpska, Canton 10 on the southeast, and with Croatia on the south, west, and north. The area is dominated by the combination of hills, low fields and alluvial plains and valleys with numerous rivers and streams. The center of the cantonal government is Bihać.
Preliminary data acquired for 2013 census show that 299,343 people live in Una-Sana Canton.
Una-Sana Canton has moderate continental climate. July is the warmest month of the year with the average temperature of 20.4°C. The lowest average temperatures in the year occur in January, when it is around 1.4°C.
