Synopsis:

Michel and his assistant Ellen are visiting a remote, mountain area. Michel starts showing the symptoms of a serious illness and Ellen gets very worried when she returns to their tent one day and does not find him there. However, a hillbilly by the name of Ramadan had found Michel in the tent, unconscious, and had taken him to his home to be cared for by his wife Ajka. But Michel and Ajka start flirting, playing a very dangerous game which they cannot hide from Ramadan and Ellen. Reticent and moody Ramadan grows increasingly suspicious and starts searching for proof of Michel’s and Ajka’s improper behaviour that would, in his mind, give him justification to kill them both. Michel can sense Ramadan’s suspicion and starts growing increasingly afraid of him. One day, the two men slip off scaffolding that they had been working on. As they hang over a waterfall holding onto a plank that might snap at any moment, Ajka runs up and down the river bank carrying rope in her hands, unsure which of the two men she’d rather save. Michel panics and starts begging Ajka to toss him the rope and convincing her that her husband will kill her if she saves him. At that moment, Ajka resolutely tosses the rope to Ramadan.
