Synopsis:
Sun, the source of life and wealth on earth, ruthlessly shines down on Herzegovina, burning crops and bringing peoples’ passions to the boiling point. People in this scorched and futile corner of the world are rebellious and driven by an unclenching desire for success and fertility. Their sons end up in different parts of the world and only women are buried under the local rocky soil. It is there that the film’s main protagonist, an old man, spent his life, suffering over his failure to produce children. Shortly before his death, a young boy comes to him and the old man wants to teach him everything he learnt in life. At the same time, a lonely woman who had violated the rules of faith suffers through her own ordeal. Hers and the old man’s dramatic life stories that have been playing out at different points in time affect the boy, helping him to understand the world he lives in.
