Synopsis:

The story is set in a small town in Herzegovina where a new railway station is being built and it opens with the arrival in the town of an honorable young woman by the name of Milka. Milka believes that life is still ahead of her and she courageously rejects all love offers only to discover that she only increases the number of her enemies. The selfish curiosity that she had inspired among the local population soon turns into vengeful and vain hate.  Loneliness, aimlessness and yearning merge creating a devastating force that sweeps over Milka, leaving her without love, without a job and without a roof over her head. When Milka finally meets a man who she believes could be the love of her life, her former admirers join forces, their accumulated hate bursts open and Milka is again hurt, humiliated and forced to run away and look for a new job and better luck. She escapes on a train, squeezed in the packed vestibule of the first class passenger car, with her eyes and her heart firmly shut.
