Retrospective of Danis Tanović’s films, organized by the Austrian Film Archive, will be held from 9th to 24th February 2018.
DANIS TANOVIĆ was born in 1969 in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His debut feature NO MAN’S LAND was awarded the Best Script Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001 and 2002 American Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. NO MAN’S LAND won a total of 42 awards, making it one of the most highly awarded debut film in the history of filmmaking. He has won Silver Bear at Berlin Film Festival for his films AN EPISODE IN THE LIFE OF AN IRON PICKER in 2013 and DEATH IN SARAJEVO in 2016. He currently lives in Sarajevo and is Professor of Directing at Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts.
The restrospective will feature 8 films: KENTAUR, DEATH IN SARAJEVO, AN EPISODE IN THE LIFE OF AN IRON PICKER, CIRKUS COLUMBIA, TRIAGE, L'ENFER, 11'9''01 - SEPTEMBER 11, as well as Oscar-winning film NO MAN'S LAND.
Danis Tanović will attend the opening of the retrospective in Vienna.
