Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, once again, awarded most influential BH filmmakers for their contribution to film industry as well as the best student films.

“Ivica Matić” Award Committee (producer Jovan Marjanović , editor Tomislav Topić and actress Alena Džebo) decided to give awards for 2017 to:

The prominent work of cinematography in the current year which has achieved noticeable results in the domestic and/or international film market

MEN DON’T CRY, directed by Alen Drljević and produced by Damir Ibrahimović

"Its very successful festival life that included numerous festival screenings and awards have made this film one of the most important in modern BH cinema. Unfortunately, always current topic of men and war terrifyingly and passionately reflects the current moment in Europe and the world, questioning the traditional masculine role of the soldier/warrior and the baggage that comes with it.

Stylistically simple but powerful with an emotional story in which everyone can recognize their father, son, brother, MEN DON’T CRY has once again proved the excellency of auteur cinema in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

The award for overall contribution to Bosnian and Herzegovinian film

Dragan Ressner and Nidžara Mehić

Over 60 documentary films in the career of a BH artist is a number relevant and comparable to artists on the European level. One hopes that the importance of BH documentary film will be recognised once again by artists of a new generation, relying on the values and postulates that the pioneers of the documentary film in Bosnia and Herzegovina, like Mr. Ressner, have set and that the Sarajevo School of Documentary Film will once again rise and take its place in a worldwide context.

To spend 50 years on a film set working in the directing department is surely a decision of deep devotion, passion, and love for the seventh art. From PLAYING SOLDIERS to ON THE PATH and CHILDREN OF SARAJEVO, Ms. Mehić witnessed the development and making of the best movies of BH cinematography. Furthermore, as a woman in a dominantly male profession, she selflessly shared her professional experience, not only as a film professional but also as a friend, mother, advisor.

For the seventh time, Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is very proud to give awards to the best student films in the previous year as students are the future of our film industry. Jury members Nedžad Begović (director), Lejla Graho (costume designer) and

Aleta Rajič (animator) decided to give four prizes to following three films:

Best B&H Student Film Award & KišaKeš Award for BH Student

PRECIOUS, Irfan Avdić (Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo)

“WELL DONE MAN is not a film title of our best student film award, however, jury said that after watching the film which has outgrown the student film status by its superior achievement and has in a very fundamental and authentic way twisted our guts bringing us closer to the truth and bitter reality.”

Special Jury Award

THE CONFIDENCE MAN, Kouros Alaghband (Sarajevo Film Academy)

“Special Jury Award goes to a short film which tells a surreal story about deception at the end of the world in a documentary manner. The story itself is told in a very original, artistic and somnambulant way.”

Special Mention

A SELF-REFLECTION IN THREE EPISODES, Sara Ristić (Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo)

“Special mention of the jury goes to a film which creates an intimate confession and bravely questions one’s own personality through minimalistic elements, strong symbolism, all within an unusual, creative and lucid approach.”
