The film AHLAT AGACI (THE WILD PEAR TREE) by Nuri Bilge Ceylan officially entered the selection of this year's Cannes Film Festival. Bosnia and Herzegovina also participated in the production of this film as co-production with producer Mirsad Purivatra, production company "2006".
The story of an aspiring writer returns to her native village in rural Turkey, but becomes overwhelmed by her father's debts was written and directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan and the main cast are Hazar Ergüçlü, Ahmet Rifat Sungar, Murat Cemcir and Ercüment Balakoglu. Film was produced by Zeynep Ozbatur Atakan and co-produced by Fabian Gasmia, Stefan Kitanov, Mirsad Purivatra, Alexandre Mallet-Guy, Labina Mitevska and Olivier Père.
Nuri Bilge Ceylan is a Turkish film director, photographer, screenwriter and actor. He won the Palme d'Or, the highest prize at the Cannes Film Festival, in 2014 for his film WINTER SLEEP while this is his second feature film made in coproduction with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
