Synopsis:

Documentary film about the historic day when the uprising against Nazi Germany begun in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The film opens with the footage of landscapes surrounding the River Sutjeska - including Maglić and Volujak mountains - shot as mountaineers from all over Yugoslavia begun gathering in the area on July 27 to celebrate the Day of the Uprising holiday. The mountaineers traverse the region where some of the most heroic episodes from the history of their nation have taken place. After a difficult trek through the still war-scarred, wild mountainous area scattered with shepherd huts, the mountaineers reach Maglić, the highest peak of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The film continues with a succession of moving images that bring back the memories of the Fifth Enemy Offensive: forest strewn with human remains, wounded trees, branches broken by tank rounds, decaying abandoned weapons. On their return from Maglić, the mountaineers walk through the newly rebuilt villages of the Sutjeska region and the Tjentište war memorial complex.
