Synopsis:

Tarik is a young unknown writer from Sarajevo. On the eve of the war in Bosnia he sends a screenplay to a competition in France. His screenplay, about the Second World War and how his father Ahmed ended up in a concentration camp and was eventually exchanged for Fascists, becomes the story of his own life. Like the remake of a film, within just fifty years the wartime story of the father is repeated in the wartime story of the son. Tarik is taken prisoner by the Serb army, but the French producer who accepted the screenplay, aided by the UN, organizes his exchange and takes him to Paris. Once there, by a mere accident, he meets his concentration camp tormentor, who also found his way to Paris as a war casualty. Tarik follows him, obsessed.
REMAKE is a true story about the ironic repetitiveness of Balcan history. Vengeance or forgiveness? That is the key dilemma left after the Bosnian war and that is the dilemma that REMAKE offers its own answer to.
